Job Description

One of Infonet's premier clients has an opening for an iOS Developer. (1433)

TERMS: Contract

SCOPE OF WORK

• Own native integration work within our brownfield mobile application
• Own architecture and implementation of native iOS screens built with UIKit (UIViewController-based) and SwiftUI, across MVP, MVC, and MV design patterns
• Define and enforce engineering standards for native code quality, maintainability, and Swift/Objective-C interoperability
• Lead design and implementation of the Navigation Bridge — the contract that allows the React Native layer to invoke native screens and receive results
• Own native app lifecycle, deep linking, push notification handling, and platform-specific behavior that sits outside the RN boundary
• Ensure native screens integrate cleanly with the RN runtime without leaking state, lifecycle, or memory
• Partner with the React Native team to define and maintain the integration boundary: what is owned natively, what is owned by RN, and how they communicate
• Implement and evolve native modules, TurboModules, and bridge interfaces that expose native capabilities to the RN layer
• Diagnose and resolve native-side issues arising from RN embedding: view hierarchy conflicts, gesture responder conflicts, keyboard/focus management, and memory pressure
• Support migration of legacy native screens into the RN-driven navigation model without breaking existing native behavior
• Drive architecture decisions for native screens — screen composition, dependency injection, data flow, and testability within MVP/MVC/MV patterns
• Establish patterns for SwiftUI ↔ UIKit interop (e.g., UIHostingController, UIViewRepresentable) used within the brownfield app
• Lead code reviews for native iOS changes and maintain high standards for Swift idioms, concurrency safety (Swift 6 / @MainActor), and accessibility
• Lead sprint execution for native iOS workstreams with clear delivery accountability
• Establish testing practices for native screens: XCTest unit tests, UI tests, and integration tests covering the native ↔ RN boundary
• Collaborate closely with the React Native team to unblock integration work and resolve cross-layer issues quickly
• Mentor iOS engineers and raise native platform capability across the team
• Own and document the native ↔ RN integration boundary with clear contracts and patterns the broader team can follow
• Unblock React Native card and screen delivery by delivering native integration touchpoints on schedule
• Establish code review standards and testing patterns for all native iOS screens
• Demonstrate measurable improvement in native-side stability, lifecycle correctness, and integration reliability
• Build trust with the React Native team as the authoritative voice for native iOS decisions

REQUIRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE

• 7+ years of iOS software engineering experience with significant production app delivery
• 3+ years in a lead or technical leadership role on iOS
• The app hosts a React Native layer embedded inside a native iOS shell — existing screens are built with UIKit and SwiftUI using MVP, MVC, and MV design patterns, and the role requires deep fluency in those native foundations
• Deep expertise in UIKit — UIViewController lifecycle, UINavigationController, UIHostingController, view hierarchy management
• Strong SwiftUI experience — composing views, managing state, and integrating SwiftUI screens into UIKit-based apps
• Proven experience working within MVP, MVC, and MV design patterns in a large iOS codebase
• Experience in a brownfield environment — embedding new technology into an existing native app without disrupting production behavior
• Strong Swift proficiency including Swift concurrency (async/await, @MainActor, actors) and Objective-C interoperability
• Experience designing and implementing native modules or bridge interfaces that expose native APIs to a JavaScript/RN layer
• Solid understanding of iOS app lifecycle, memory management (ARC), and Instruments-based performance profiling
• Experience with iOS release pipelines — Xcode Cloud, Fastlane, TestFlight, and App Store submission
• Candidates whose primary experience is React Native or cross-platform frameworks with shallow native iOS depth
• Engineers unfamiliar with UIKit fundamentals who have only built SwiftUI-only apps from scratch
• Candidates without brownfield or legacy codebase experience — comfort with incremental migration and existing patterns is essential
• Web or backend engineers looking to transition into mobile

PREFERRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE

• A native iOS engineer first — someone who thinks in UIKit and SwiftUI before reaching for any cross-platform layer
• Comfortable owning the integration seam between native and RN, and confident setting the rules of engagement for that boundary
• Strong collaborator who can work alongside a React Native team without letting native quality standards slip
• Pragmatic about design patterns — understand when MVP, MVC, or MV is appropriate and can articulate the tradeoffs
• React Native exposure — understanding how the RN runtime embeds into a native iOS app, and how JS ↔ native communication works (bridge, TurboModules, JSI)
• Experience with CocoaPods and Swift Package Manager in a large multi-module project
• Familiarity with GraphQL or REST API integration patterns in native iOS clients
• Experience with Accessibility (VoiceOver, Dynamic Type) and platform-level compliance standards
• Background in large enterprise or consumer-scale iOS apps with complex navigation hierarchies
